Boom! The offseason passed so quickly, I didn't even have time to make a blog
post hyping the start of the new season before it arrived. We've been going for almost three weeks now. Of course, Jody booked the first available slot and then Chuck swooped in right behind for the second. We also got a bonus visit from Doug and Ty Robbins to kick things off.
So far, everything has been at a perfect pace. It has been great to already make new friends and see familiar faces We've had the roller coaster weather that characterizes April skiing in VA, but it hasn't stopped us. I'm happy to see the forecast looking steadily warmer for the 10 days to come! We've only just begun, but these first sets of the season are so FUN! Looking forward to seeing so many friends for the first time still!

In some truly fabulous news, Bradley Gibbons is not only back in Bumpass, but he will be a Virginian for the foreseeable future. He just got the word from the VCU School of Dentistry yesterday that he is going to be a RAM! We'll be sad to see Brad leave Bumpass in August, but it's not so bad knowing he'll be right in Richmond for the next 5 years. This means Brad's pro waterski dreams and pro dentist dreams both have a bright future. SKI WITH BRAD!
Buoyfest!
(Sign-ups Below)
Mark your calendars! Buoyfest is June 21st! The funnest fun tournament of all is back in its 7th year. Maybe next year I'll make a website just for the even with all of the info so we keep attracting fresh faces, as well as new novice and experienced skiers alike. At this point, I'm going to leave it at "if you know; you know." Get yourself signed up. My travel schedule in May and June is going to be insane. I'm getting home from Africa days before Buoyfest, so please help me get this thing organized by getting your entries in! Here are the registration links f0r both Buoyfest and the "Buoyfest Afterglow" Class C on June 22: BUMPASS BUOYFEST REGISTRATION. BUOYFEST AFTERGLOW REGISTRATION
I can confirm that Cooling Pond will be back, offering the best beer in town. Not Yo Mama's food truck will also be back for the year. It wouldn't be Buoyfest without Chris Bailey's live musical talents. Don't worry, the Bailey's are in! We'll make an announcement about this year's band once we have one lined up...
Junior Developement Most who need to know probably already know that this year's clinic is June 16-18. Filling it with participants certainly won't be hard but I do need some help filling it with coaches this year. I am going to miss the clinic this year. It's been a highlight of my summer since 1995 and will be for many years to come, but I will be flying home from Marrakech this year during the clinic. If you know of anyone who might make a great coach at the clinic, please have them reach out to me - h2oSkiJunkie@gmail.com Ski Gear

As you are starting your season and finding that you need new gear - rope, handle, gloves, boots, skis, vests, etc. Please think of the PLW Pro Shop first. I'm pretty full of inventory and would love to help everyone get started with fresh equipment. I carry KD, Radar and D3 products, as well as Stealth Gloves and a number of other independent brands. I also have new PLW Merch in stock. I'll be working on getting some of this up on my website but for now, it's all in the store. If you are in the area, come shopping in an actual waterski store (and take a rip). I have gear for all sizes and all levels.
SKI YOU SOON!
Alright, that's enough for now. I'll try to keep some updates coming. Now that we have hit the ground running, it's going to be a wild ride until November. Please reach out, come out, beast out. It's ski season 2025! Let's go!!!
PLW, Corey
P.S. Seth Update
Yeah, I can't help myself. Gotta share what the little guy has been up to. He is already four sets in to the 2025 season. So if you haven't skied yet, you need to ask yourself, "are you tougher than a toddler?" Most of all, I'm just happy that he is the one asking to ski and he is so filled with joy every time he's behind the boat. It reminds Amelia and I to keep the fun up front when it's ski time.
