Skiing in the New Year
I hope that 2011 has gotten off to a great start for everyone and holds a great sense of promise for all. I have hit the ground running in the new year. The skiing in Acapulco hasn’t skipped a beat and the visiting guests have been fantastic. I have met some of the smartest, funniest and kindest people of my whole life and all within the first two weeks of the new year. I can only hope that 2011 can continue the way it has started.
As I cast a gaze back at 2010, I am reminded to be thankful for all of my friends (many of whom are on this list). It’s been a blast getting to ski in so many places this year and make so many new ski friends, as well as enjoy the company of old friends. I miss all of my Okeeheelee friends from last winter. My good ol’ collegiate ski friends, I feel like it has been a lifetime since we last “raised hell” together. Ski Paradise guests come and they go and it is hard to say goodbye to almost all of you (those few, whom I am ready to say goodbye to are not on this list, haha). And it certainly feels like it’s been too long since I’ve seen anyone in Bumpass! I can’t wait for all that is in store for the summer of 2011. It’s going to be completely awesome!
I know the coming summer will be fantastic, because little will change and last summer was SO great. All that will change is that more people will come from more places. I consider this to be a great thing, as it will enrich the (ski) culture of dear ol’ Bumpass and surrounding areas. A big boon is that this year there will be more Paul – and more Paul is good (sort of like “More Cowbell)! For those of you who don’t know Paul, he is a great boat driver, one hell of a skier and just a great dude. He will be helping out with much more driving and coaching, as well as be in training for a great summer, himself. The “Black Beauty” aka 2008 MasterCraft ProStar 197 will be back and ready to tow some PB’s. It’s looking like we’ll have some ski’s to Demo and some gear for sale too. Also, by summer, I hope to get the peaceloveandwaterskiing.com website a little bit more interactive, fun and functional. I’m working on more Peace, Love & WaterskiingÒ merchandise as well.
Thank you to everyone who made 2010 the great year it was. Traveling around and skiing is a blast but it would be bland without the great people and the great times. Speaking of new people, there is a new group of folks arriving at Ski Paradise that I must meet. I hope nobody has been worried about the violence reported in Acapulco. Any violence here is between cartels and doesn’t concern or threaten us peaceful, happy water skiers.
Let’s keep making 2011 great.
All the best,
P.S. I would like to extend a special thank you to Laurie Lindsey for her continuing patience with my ineptitude regarding my website. I hope to get more time to play with it and liven it up a bit. Laurie did an awesome job setting me up and can help you too. If you need a website for your club or anything ski related, check out her site http://www.waterskiwebsites.com/
